Rhum Barbancourt is one of Haiti’s finest exports. After much anticipation, the Cuvée 150 Ans Limited Edition of this rich, oh-so-smooth liquor hits the shelves in select markets across the United States.
This show-stopping edition was first released in December 2012, at the Royal Oasis Hotel in Pétion-Ville, for Rhum Barbancourt’s 150th anniversary. Many gathered to witness the first glimpse of this much-anticipated limited edition.
Cuvee 150 Ans was received with widespread approval throughout Haiti, where Haitians are still endlessly proud of what they classify as their national treasure. The Limited Edition of Rhum Barbancourt took top marks for everything from its smooth rum blend (aged in cognac, bourbon and oak barrels) to its elegant bottle, designed by outstanding international designer Michael Kramer. The 750ml crystal decanter of this limited edition rum has a gorgeous Art Deco style, and its sand-etched lettering reveals classic elegance and hints at the superior flavor to come. This is beauty in a bottle, epitomized. Something more stunning might just be hard to find. It is truly a treasure to add to anyone’s collection.
Now, American rum enthusiasts can join in adding this gem to their own collection, celebrating with the release of Cuvee 150 Ans to the U.S. liquor market.
Rhum Barbancourt was launched in Haiti’s Port-au-Prince in 1862, using French expat Dupré Barbancourt’s double-distillation process. Today, the sugar cane is still harvested locally, some even being grown on the distillery grounds. The distillery is proud to produce such high-quality rum, using methods that have been passed down through the generations. Thierry Gardère, Rhum Barbancourt’s fourth-generation owner, keeps the quality alive through the finest ingredients and exceptional dedication.
From their Estate Reserve (aged 15 years), with its long finish and caramelized brown sugar notes, to their 3-Star Rhum (aged 4 years), with its distinct spices and soothing heat, Rhum Barbancourt holds nothing back from dedicated rum connoisseurs around the world. Today, Rhum Barbancourt exports its fine spirits to enthusiasts the world over, and the Cuvee 150 Ans Limited Edition is further proof of their commitment to excellence and their determination to make Haiti proud.
